When Cedric Mitchell first got into glass, he remembers searching: “famous black glass artist.” Only three people came up. It was then that he decided he wanted to change the culture of glass blowing by embracing the culture he grew up with, one infused with hip-hop and fashion.
Mitchell now runs a successful glass business and thrives in the intense environment of the hot studio. It’s one of extremes and high stakes. One wrong move could lead to a break that forces you to start from scratch. It’s both an art, and a sport — and he likes that about it.
