Welcome to The Boxcutter – the new monthly newsletter from People & Culture. In each monthly edition our goal is to encapsulate important updates and reminders while providing fresh ways to connect and keep everyone up to speed on the latest and greatest at Gear Patrol.

A Note From Danielle:

Fun fact: "Boxcutter" (as in, "opening up the box of work," get it?) is actually a dormant internal newsletter title at Gear Patrol from pre-pandemic times. We're excited to revive it in this new format to bring us closer together in our remote-first world. I'm taking an intentional approach with this newsletter and am excited to keep improving it over time with your input – so please send over shout-outs, suggestions and photos (be sure to share yours whenever you can). This newsletter is for all! I encourage everyone to contribute content and ideas or thoughts to share and lift team voices into the newsletter. For next month, I want to hear your tips for a successful workday, big wins of the week, praise for your teammates, or even a tour of your home office.

Fast FiveFive questions with...

Where do you live now and where are you originally from?

I currently live in Fort Collins, CO. I was born and raised in Le Mars, IA

Fun Fact: Le Mars is the home of

, the world's largest producer of ice cream in one location. This shocking amount of ice cream has given Le Mars the nickname "Ice Cream Capital of the World".

What's your favorite thing to do on Saturday morning?

A morning bike ride through Rist Canyon followed by some recovery beers at Hello Brew Co. (here is a bonus photo of some bears I saw on my ride last weekend)

Is there something you've been obsessed with lately?

Ed Ruscha’s self-published books! My current fav is his 25 foot long, accordion-folded book featuring every building on the Sunset Strip.

How do you stay motivated or how do you stay energized for work?

A majority of the time I get to make pictures for work and I think that’s the coolest thing in the world.

Pick one:

What's your Myers-Briggs personality? What advice would you give your past self? Or, do you have any secret skills or talents we should know about?

My Myers-Briggs personality is ENTP

Now, show us where you work (or are working from this month):

Here’s a photo of my studio. I’ve got an open seat if any one wants to come hang in Northern Colorado for a bit ✌️

Behind the Scenes:

Eric meeting up with former watch editor, Oren Hartov on August 8 in Studio City, Los Angeles at Art's Deli for reuben's and gab.

The Takeaway

The Boxcutter's purpose is to close the communication gap as well as motivate, inspire and connect employees in addition to keeping everyone up to date with what’s going on in the organization. One question (found in the link below) will be asked at the end of each newsletter to close it out.

Thank you all so much!

Danielle
